Pantech Breakout LTE Hits Verizon 22nd September

We saw some photos and details of the new Pantech Breakout LTE which is headed to Verizon and now it looks like it will be available on Verizon from the 22nd of September.
The Pantech Breakout will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it features a4 inch mulit-touchtouchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, processing comes with the form of a single core 1GHz processor.

The Pantech Breakout also comes with a front facing camera for video chat and a rear facing 5megapixel camera for photos and video, on top of that it comes with 512MB of RAM and DNLA support, there are no details on pricing as yet.

Dead Island Hits 1 Million US Retail Sales In Its First Week

Even after all the problems the PC version of the game has experienced over the last week. The new Dead Island zombie game developer Techland and publisher Deep Silver must be over the moon with its first weeks sales which have now topped 1 million units to retail in the US.
Deep Silver is now hoping to carry on the trend and reach 2 million units to retail worldwide by the end of its second week, its been revealed in their press release today.

Geoff Mulligan, Chief Operating Officer at Deep Silver explains:
“We’re thrilled at the retail reception Dead Island has achieved in its first few days,” – “The critical ‘first week’ of game sales has been an enormous sales success for Deep Silver. We’re working quickly with our distribution partner in North America, Square Enix, to restock shelves as quickly as we can.”

Vocre iPhone App Enables Live iPhone-to-iPhone Voice Translation (video)

Vocre a new iPhone application launched this week enables live iPhone-to-iPhone voice translation. Simply install the applications and select the languages you need translated. Currently supported languages include: English, American English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish.
The application uses Nuance’s speech recognition software to enable instant translation and requires an active Internet connection to function. Watch a promotional video after the jump to see it in action.

The Vocre iPhone app is free to download and provides 10 free translations but any more will cost you and you will need to purchase these in blocks. A block of 10 will cost $0.99 and a 100 for $9.

iPhone is world’s thinnest smartphone after Samsung complaint dismissed

While Apple is busy filing lawsuits against Samsung regarding the design of its products, Samsung has taken an opportunity to complain that the iPhone 4 is not the world’s thinnest smartphone as claimed in an Apple advertisement. Samsung believes its own Galaxy S2 is actually thinner, and therefore Apple is making false claims.
The iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick, but the Galaxy S2 is only 8.71mm thick. That’s a clear win, right? Not according to Apple who has now been backed up by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the UK.
The point of contention is the thickest part of a smartphone. While the majority of the Galaxy S2 is indeed 8.71mm thick, it has a bulge at one end that increases the thickness to 9.91mm–much thicker than the iPhone 4. The ASA agreed with Apple that Samsung can’t claim world’s thinnest smartphone because of this, and because the iPhone 4 is no thicker than 9.3mm at any point, it gets to keep stating the title of world’s thinnest (for now) in adverts.
Manufacturing a handset thinner than anyone else is a significant marketing advantage to have as it can be put to good use in advertising. It also helps sell the device because people generally associate thinner with more advanced hardware and an easier to carry around device.
Although Apple can sit back happy in the knowledge it got the world’s thinnest smartphone title affirmed, will the iPhone 5 maintain it, or has some other manufacturer got a phone in development that will be thinner without a bulge? I’m confident Samsung won’t be too happy with this ruling by the ASA and is hard at work figuring out how to remove that case bulge for the next Galaxy S smartphone

German master model maker Robert Gülpen has created the worlds most expensive toy car which costs 12 times more than the real life version. Gülpen spent 500 hours recreating a model LamborghiniAventador in carbon fibre and then decorated it with platinum, gold and precious stones. Adding diamonds to the headlights, wheel rims and interior.
