Idea Introduces India's First Video Calling Booth In Kerala

India's Innovative telecommunications Idea today with former Indian football team captain and Malabar Special Police (MSP), Malapuram Commandant, Mr. U Sharaf Ali, inaugurated Kerala’s first ‘Video Calling ISD booth’ set up by Idea.

People in Malapuram and adjoining areas can now visit Idea kiosk at IMT Mobile, Dubai Souk, behind Kottakkal bus stand, Kottakkal to make international Video calls to their loved ones. Idea has come out with this innovative idea of setting up ISD video calling booths wherein users can not only talk but see the person live in real-time. This will be a boon for such families who yearn to see their loved ones living abroad. The person receiving the call should be using a 3G handset on a 3G connection.

Speaking about the 3G launch in Malappuram, Mr. Vinu Verghese – Circle Head, Kerala, Idea Cellular, said: “Our innovative ISD Video Calling Booth in Malappuram is the first of its kind in Kerala, and we will also be launching them in other locations of Kerala soon. There is huge voice traffic on outgoing ISD from Kerala on 2G network, and we hope to build on the same by offering video calling on 3G network. This is our special way to ensure that our subscribers can now not only talk but also see their loved ones living far away.”

They have also said that by this end of the year they are gonna introduce this video calling booth in all the cities of india. Estimated video calling booth are more than 15,000.

Intel’s latest graphics driver boasts 37 percent 3D gaming performance gain

If you own a high-end graphics card then you know that applying the latest graphics driver update is probably going to give your games a bit of a performance boost as well as sort out a few bugs. What kind of performance gain you see depends on the games and the age of the card, but a single-digit percentage gain is most likely.

Intel also has to release graphics driver updates for the chips it sells that include an integrated graphics solution. For example, the latest Sandy Bridge Core processors with Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated. What we didn’t expect to see is the latest version of Intel’s drivers boasting as much as 37 percent 3D gaming performance gain in a certain Blizzard-developed title.

That’s exactly what Intel is claiming though, with the release notes accompanying driver versions 15.22.50.2509 and 15.22.50.64.2590 listing substantial performance gains for six popular titles. Here’s the games and claimed frames-per-second gain you should experience:

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty – Devil’s Playground – 37% gain
Dawn of War: Chaos Rising – 29% gain
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – 28% gain
Supreme Commander 2 – 16% gain
DIRT 2 – 12% gain
Resident Evil 5 (Benchmark) – 10% gain

The reference machine used to log those gains was an Intel Core-i7-2677M running at 1.8GHz on an Intel 6 Series Chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and Hitachi 320 hard drive. The Intel graphics and Media Control Panel Power Plan was set to “Plugged In, Balance” and the games were all running on low settings.

The new drivers also fix an issue with HDMI monitor connections crashing machines intermittently, and rendering artifacts have been resolved in a long list of titles. Any games using OpenGL should also see some performance improvements due to a new extension, performance optimizations, and a few fixes.

One thing is clear, if you run a version of Intel’s HD Graphics solution then it’s definitely worth updating your drivers if you use your laptop for gaming or anything involving 3D rendering.

SoundHound Update for Android Adds LiveLyrics

If you are an Android user that uses SoundHound the app has been updated with a couple new and cool features. The best of the features is called LiveLyrics and it will help you figure out what the words to your favorite songs are. I know we have all listened to a song a hundred times before realizing we were singing it wrong in the car.

LiveLyrics is a cool feature that will show you the correct lyrics to any song playing, even is the song is not at the start. The lyrics scroll up the screen in real-time along with the tune so you can sing along. That is a very cool feature to have.

The other feature makes sharing the tunes you like much easier. You can share tracks and comments on the tracks you like on Twitter and Facebook at the same time. The new features are in version 2.7.4 of the app.
