So, there was a bit of news last night that now has everyone talking. Yes, Steve Jobs resigned from his CEO position at Apple. But, there are other things going on in the tech world right now, too. One bit of particularly interesting news comes from what’s rumored to be the iPhone’s upcoming competitor, the Motorola Droid Bionic. Today, DroidLife posted a teaser video of the soon-to-be-released smartphone possibly as a way of reminding people that before Jobs decided to retire, it was the many Bionic rumors that were filling our news feeds.
The video, which is somewhat terrifying, features an evil robot and pretty tough-looking woman who battles the robot. We still don’t get a peek at what the actual phone looks like, but the ad says we’ll see it sometime in September, which would validate the rumors we’ve been hearing of a September 8 release date. The words “Rule All Machines” appears between fighting scenes, which means that Motorola believes this is the one Droid that will rule all the others.
The Droid Bionic is said to have a dual-core TI OMAP processor, LTE radio, an 8-megapixel camera, and a 4.3-inch display.
Though we didn’t get a look at the phone in the teaser video, YouTube user hksscom posted a video of the Droid Bionic bootup in action. The video also shows him performing a speed test on Verizon’s LTE network, and needless to say, it did pretty well with 4.5Mbps down and 1.9Mbps up. True, the Droid Charge and Revolution both have much faster speeds, but perhaps the September version will see a major bump.
