Facebook has reached yet another milestone. The uber-popular social networking site already topped the 750-million-user mark back in June and the company is continuing its climb to 800 million users. According to Google, that 750 million+ number is, not surprisingly, resulting in quite a bit of traffic for the site. In June, Facebook saw 870 million unique visits and 1 trillion page views.
You may be wondering how Facebook saw 870 million unique visitors in June if it only has 750 million official users. According to Digital Inspiration, the number comes from certain site sections like Facebook Pages and Profiles which are open to non-users as well as registered members.
Facebook users spend over 700 billion minutes per month on the social network and, on average, each user generates 1,150 page views a month. That’s a tad scary to think about considering that YouTube only had 126 views per unique visitor per month. Another way to think of it: Facebook is serving 385,802 pages a second (in a 30 day month).
Google’s Ad Planner Top 1000 Sites list lets you see a list of the largest 1000 sites worldwide based on unique visitors. The list is updated monthly as new Ad Planner datasets are released. YouTubeand Yahoo follow Facebook in second and third place with 790 million and 590 million unique visitors, respectively. Google is keeping things hush-hush with its own numbers and didn’t include its own traffic data in the list.
